3 Ways to a Practice a “Beginner’s Mind”

A beginner’s mind is the holy grail of yoga (AND LIFE). What does a beginner’s mind sound like?

“I don’t know how to do this, but I’m excited to find out.”
“I wonder what would happen if I did it *this* way instead?”
“I’ve never heard that before, that’s interesting. tell me more!”
“I might be wrong, but I’m okay with that…”

When we choose NOT to live from a fixed, unadaptable or even complacent standpoint, we choose to *actually* experience life as an active participant and become more resilient, healthy, creative and joyful.

Here are 3 ways to apply a beginners mind on and off your mat:

1. Get curious. An open mind is key! Approaching situations without thinking you know it all opens the door to growth and SO many possibilities.

2. Be present. Practicing moment to moment awareness gives you the opportunity to notice things you normally wouldn’t and access more connection to experiences.

3. Enjoy the process. Results and achievement are not the ultimate goal—those can lead to burnout or disappointment. Instead, find joy and purpose in the journey, no matter how big or small.
